What does the Hygienist do?

Hygienist appointments aid in the prevention of tooth decay, gingivitis and periodontitis by thoroughly cleaning the teeth and gums to maintain good oral health and hygiene.

Daily, our teeth and gums go through a lot, especially as there are higher levels of sugar and acidity in our food and drinks. We need to make sure our teeth and gums are protected and thoroughly cleaned so our oral health isn't impacted badly over time. It is important to have a good dental routine at home as well as regular visits to the Hygienist. This can help ensure a thorough overall clean and to make sure there isn't any build up of plaque, as this is how cavities can form. Also, to make sure the pockets of your gum line doesn't have any build up as this can lead to gum disease.

The Hygienist will check your dental health situation and a clean will be adapted to meet your needs. Hygienists will focus on removing any plague build up and cleaning and polishing your teeth to help remove staining. Your Hygienist should recommend a treatment plan for you and how often it is recommended for you to see the Hygienist.

We are lucky to have a fantastic Hygienist team here at Aromaden Dental Practice and we take pride in knowing our team makes sure each of your appointments are made bespoke for you and your dental needs.
